TRACI TOTA
The revolution in independent sound continues with Singer, Songwriter, Co-producer, and Recording Artist Traci Tota’s “Chapters”. This release represents a collection of artistry fusing R&B, Dance, Funk, Soul, Jazz, and African beats to create a force with contemporary classical style. “Chapters” is Traci’s reverence for the essence of many musical forms – in which her requirement for freedom of musical control are manifest. This New York born singer grew up in Queens, NY where she began her love for singing at an early age. Musical credits include vocal lead and co-writer of her first recording on CBS Records, a dance single entitled “Don’t Let Me Down” recorded under the group name of Contact. Following Traci’s debut single Traci and Willis Wilson collaborated on “All of My Heart” released on the Profile Records label formed under their group name AZ One which proved very successful. Traci co-wrote and was vocal lead in the group and on the single, which was on play lists across the country. The song is still very popular and remembered today. Traci appeared as a guest vocalist on three tracks of the widely received WWIII Recording release entitled “Revelations” by Willis Wilson. The tremendous success of “Revelations” prompted a vigorous touring schedule featuring vocal performances by Traci throughout the tri-state area. It was in New York City in the early 2000’s where Traci debuted her rendition of “Good Morning Heartache” with solo piano. This performance was the first among many to engage the audience to a rare treat of intimate artistry seldom seen in today’s music. In 2003 Traci along with multi-talented Trumpeter, writer, and producer Willis Wilson formed RubyBoo Records and entertainment, this ain’t your daddy’s jazz… in honor of Traci’s mom Ruby who was always called “Boo” by her dad. As co-owners of RubyBoo Records & Entertainment, Traci & Willis are proud that the label continues to grow, it gives them the freedom to create independently with no barriers.“Chapters” focuses on Traci’s growth, inner peace with herself and her music and her musical journey throughout the years. Strong vocal performances and powerful lyrics set the tone for a catalogue that illustrates an artist reaching out to grasp the people and talk about the world we live in today on multiple levels. Traci says “when I worked on the various tracks of Chapters I often felt that it was my duty to relay a message to the people as evident in the singles entitled “Gonna Make A Change”, “Bettah Day”, “Keep it Together”, etc. These songs vividly display my feeling about how we live and the troubles in this world today. Music is my passion, “Chapters” takes me back and tells the story through the chapters of my life”.
