Willis Wilson
The revolution in independent sound continues with Willis Wilson's
REVELATIONS". A collection of trumpeting artistry that fuses Jazz,
R&B, Funk, Hip-Hop, classic and contemporary Jazz styles to create a
new wave in the Contemporary and Classic Jazz formats. With
"REVELATIONS “, Wilson's reverence for the essence of musical
forms is artistry without compromise.
At age 10 young Wilson taught himself to play the family piano. By
age 12 he was playing the trumpet, and in high school Wilson started
to form collaborative sounds on his own terms.
Wilson continued studying the craft of Jazz music at Harlem's own
City College. He also studied trumpet with Carnegie Hall Jazz Band
Director Jon Faddis and Noted trumpeter and educator Jimmy Owens.
Sid Baker, Of the NY Philharmonic trained Wilson in classical music,
and Wilson was ready to tour with Mercer Ellington and the Duke
Ellington Orchestra.
The Current CD “REVELATIONS” has received praise worthy
reviews from fans and industry insiders. New York City’s own
CD 101.9 personality Deborah Rath describes Wilson’s performances
as mesmerizing and reminiscent of a young “Miles Davis “.
At the 13th Annual Asbury Park Jazz Festival Wilson received two
resounding standing ovations when he opened for industry veterans
Spyro Gyra. Wilson's concert appearances include openings for jazz
greats Spyro Gyra, Kim Waters, and The Rippingtons
He has recently completed a 4 week engagement at the world Famous
REGENT hotel sponsored by Emmis Broadcasting CD 101.9. During
the Summer Wilson hosted “JAZZ on The Rink “ Sponsored by
ABSOLUTE VODKA with mesmerizing performances at “ THE RINK
BAR” at Rockefeller Center” and “The Sequoia Club” at the South
Street Seaport.
Great things are in store for Jazz fans with his highly anticipated
New CD “Garden of the Mind “ that is scheduled for release this year.
Wilson knows that this is just the beginning. The FANS are really
into it”!
